First of all, I was impressed by the nurse, Patricia, who guided me to the proper surgeon for my needs. I was greatly impressed with Dr. Johnson as she had reviewed my, somewhat lengthy, medical record so she knew my purpose and my prior preparations for the appointment. She was thorough and gentle in her exam. She spent a great deal of time with me regarding the exam, her thoughts as well as an explanation of the surgery itself. She had a surgical plan in mind, and assured me that she would get back to me the following week with the concrete plan after speaking with her colleagues. She was kind, considerate, and easy to talk to.

Dr Johnson was very thorough, professional and provided full information that aided me with my surgical decision. She presented me with confidence to proceed with the Hartford Healthcare team.

Dr. Kristina Johnson is board certified in both general as well as colorectal surgery and has been in practice at Hartford Hospital for the past thirteen years.

Her practice is focused on both cancerous and noncancerous colorectal disease processes.

Dr. Johnson has advanced specialty training in the treatment of pelvic floor disorders, including incontinence, rectoceles, prolapse as well as anorectal diseases and also practices minimally invasive surgery.

As associate clinical professor at the University of Connecticut, Dr. Johnson is actively involved in resident and medical student education. In addition, she is primary investigator on a number of active research studies focused on advancing the therapeutic options available for some common surgical complications.

Dr. Johnson is married, the mother of two children and has a special interest in the treatment of pelvic floor weakness associated with childbirth.
