I met Dr. Sanft yesterday, as she was filling in at the cancer center I go to in Avon. My oncologist has left and unfortunately there has been no new hire to fill the position so I literally feel like I’m at sea without a doctor. I was so happy with my meeting yesterday with Dr. Sanft. I found her to be warm, kind and compassionate… All the treats that I would hope to have in my oncology doctor. Of course I was trying not to get too attached knowing that she was just filling in and unfortunately, her office is about an hour and a half from where I live so I don’t really see. It’s feasible to switch to her. Though she does offer telehealth, I really would feel more comfortable meeting with my oncologist in person. I do have another appointment set up with her in August, which I’m very much looking forward to. She was not familiar with my Case obviously coming to a new place but she had notes on my situation and she did the best she could to fill in the gaps. I felt comfortable, asking her cosmetic questions that I really had not felt comfortable asking previously and felt good about the answers that I got. The appointment felt completely unrushed, and this is also the first time that I have not felt the anxiety of the pressure to get through the meeting because of a time constraint, and so that felt really good as well. I felt that that Dr. Sanft really listened to my questions and concerns and did all she could to answer and assuage! At the end of our meeting, she wrote down her phone number for me and I just assumed it was her office number, but she told me it was her cell and that I was still feel free to call if I had any questions. Wow! This is the kind of treatment I had been hoping for since I started my journey. Thank you so much Dr. Sanft and I look forward to seeing you in August!
