As a 32-year-old woman of color, I am sharing my experience to warn others about the severe clinical bias and dismissive treatment I received from Dr. Brian Wong. I saw him twice for chronic migraines and severe, radiating nerve pain moving from my neck, back, legs, and hands, alongside hand tingling that flares up instantly when looking down or moving my head.Right off the top, you would think a specialist would immediately investigate a case like mine: I was hit by a car as an adolescent and sustained extensive trauma, breaking this exact same leg, including my upper femur bone, hip, and pelvis. Instead, from the very beginning of my first face-to-face visit, Dr. Wong dismissed me right off the bat and completely ignored my extensive orthopedic trauma history. When my initial brain MRI came back with reassuring results, instead of treating it as good diagnostic news, he was incredibly rude and condescending. He sarcastically stated that my MRI was not impressive and that he had seen worse, acting as if my chronic physical suffering was a complete waste of his time. The biased treatment culminated during my visit on June 11, 2026, after I provided a routine update about starting a new psychiatric medication for bipolar disorder. The moment I disclosed this, he completely abandoned objective neurology protocols. He weaponized my mental health status to paint a false narrative, trying to claim my structural, long-term physical issues and radiating nerve pain were entirely psychological factors and pushing behavioral therapy (CBT).I had to physically fight and demand that he order a basic cervical spine MRI, even though my total spine X-ray explicitly shows a straightened cervical spine and thoracic scoliosis. Unbelievably, before a neck MRI or proper nerve tests were even performed to investigate the radiating pain in my limbs and old trauma sites, he rushed to put a Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) label in my chart and documented me as irritated—blatantly pathologizing the natural physical distress of a patient living with chronic, severe pain.Leaving this premature, weaponized note in my permanent medical record is dangerous medicine. It creates a harmful medical stigma that pre-biases future providers and actively limits my future access to healthcare. Dr. Wong completely lacks bedside manners, professional respect, and clinical objectivity. Avoid this provider if you want someone who treats patients of color equitably, respects mental health transparency, and takes objective physical data seriously.

Dr. Wong is so caring, patient, and you can tell he really cares about his patients. In some of the most unnerving times, Dr. Wong led me through comprehensive tests, referrals, and helped explain results in ways that we could all process. He is the best and is so knowledgable, compassionate, and truly human.

Excellent. I've seen a lot of Doctors in my life and he rates among the best. And I say that after one visit. He is smart, patient, polite and it's easy to see, a very good and caring man.

Doctor Wong is excellent Doctor! He is so much knowledgeable in getting to the root of a patient's diagnosis in explaining what needs to be done. And he would ask you if you have any questions. And he will help the patient feel at ease and comfortable. Doctor desires a 10 star rating . And it's a pleasure being his patient.

Dr. Wong has a subspecialty that happens to be great for me. I’m thankful for all the testing he’s doing on me because truthfully, other doctors just don’t know what to do for a Sarcoidosis patient. I only wish that his bedside manner was a little better. He’s very serious (as he should be given his specialty), but a smile and some small talk would definitely add to the patient experience.

My first visit with Dr Wong was exceptional. He took time to be conversant with info in MyChart. He was patient in asking about my symptoms, conducted some tests and then explained in detail test results and treatment plan.

Dr. Wong is great. He listened attentively to my symptoms and offered a solution that has so far reduced the severity of those symptoms. I did not feel rushed at all to express in detail my issue.. Thank you very much.
